A Word of Advice... Please follow these directions to drive to Highland Ranch as opposed to any directions from Mapquest or a similar website which, through no fault of theirs, will have you end up in a lonely spot in the woods...

Unless you are driving a long truck or pulling a trailer, we encourage guests to take the Shorter Route to Highland Ranch.

The driving time from the Bay Area is about 2.5 hours.

The driving time from Sacramento is about 3.5 to 4 hours.

From the South

1. Take 101 North approx. 82 miles from Golden Gate Bridge to Cloverdale.

2. Take Route 128 West (Last Cloverdale exit) towards "Boonville" which is approx. 35 miles north-west from Cloverdale.

Shorter Route (no long trucks or horse trailers)

i. 5 miles after the town of Boonville is the village of Philo

ii. Turn left (west) on Ray's Road directly after "Redwood Coast " gas station in Philo

iii. After +/- ¼ mile, take left fork and then the fourth left to the electric gate. Key in the gate code (call or email us) on control box and the gate will open and close itself

iv. Follow road for 2 miles to Highland Ranch

From the North (Hwy 101)

1. Take 101 South to Ukiah.

2. Take exit to Route 253 towards Boonville and Route 128

3. Right on Route 128 (west) and seven miles to Philo

i. Turn left (west) on Ray's Road at "Redwood Coast " gas station in Philo

ii. After +/- ¼ mile, take left fork and then the fourth left to the electric gate. Key in the gate code (call or email us) on control box and the gate will open and close itself

iii. Follow road for 2 miles to Highland Ranch

From the North (Hwy 1)

1. From Highway 1, take 128 East towards Philo and Boonville.

Shorter Route (no long trucks or horse trailers)

i. Turn right (west) on Ray's Road just before "Redwood Coast " gas station in Philo

ii. After +/- ¼ mile, take left fork and then the fourth left to the electric gate. Key in the gate code (call or email us) on control box and the gate will open and close itself

iii. Follow road for 2 miles to Highland Ranch

If you ARE driving a long truck or pulling a trailer, we encourage guests to take the Longer Route to Highland Ranch

Longer Route

i. From the south or from Highway 101 route, continue past Philo for 2.5 miles and take a left (west) on Hendy Woods Elk Road.  From Hwy 1, look for signs to Hendy Woods State Park before Philo heading right (west).

ii. Head 1.1 miles, look for signboard and take a left into Highland Ranch entrance. If the gate is locked, combination is 3600

iii. Follow road 4 miles from paved road to ranch

Travel Options and Links

Beginning April 1, 2007, Alaska Airlines (Horizon Air) will begin non-stop service from Los Angeles (LAX)

and from Seattle (SEA) airports to Santa Rosa airport (STS).

There are trains and buses that will bring you from all over California and the United States to the Bay Area airports and more buses from the airports to Santa Rosa and from there a bus (#95 to Philo) from the Mendocino Transit Authority into the Anderson Valley where Highland Ranch is located.  Check out the following sites:
