Yoga and Riding Long Weekend Retreats October 16th to 19th, 2008 Deepen your presence on the mat and in the saddle
Susanne Cohen, HR's own Iyengar trained yoga teacher once again brings her love of horses and passion for yoga together in a three day weekend workshop focused on experiencing and exploring the connections between yoga and riding. For us, yoga and riding each involve a balanced seat, an open heart, a calm breath, a present mind, and a deep connection with all life. Daily yoga classes will focus on alignment, strength, suppleness and breath that invite the body’s responsiveness and well being. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, we’ll take our enlivened experience into the saddle for individual lessons in our 60 foot, state-of-the-art round pen and for trail riding fostering a more conscious, open connection with our equine friends. The retreat is designed for people of all experience levels in yoga and riding. Bring your own horse or ride one of ours free of charge. A weekend retreat of yoga and riding instruction will help to:

Highland Ranch Horsemanship Program
Lessons
Previous trail riding experience is not necessary to ride the trails at Highland Ranch and all guests may request an initial brief yet helpful riding lesson free of charge. In addition, private and small group lessons for adults and children will allow you to focus on your riding skills, improve your overall riding ability and likely increase your comfort level out on the trails.
(May be split between two riders at $45 each) Small Group Lesson (2 to 5 riders) are $45/person Lessons arranged in advance during your booking process will allow us to plan accordingly and ensure that they take place. However, guest may also choose to inquire once they are on site and have already ridden.
Clinics Clinics will be arranged for riders with similar objectives which will allow riders to focus on specific goals. For horses and riders who would like to develop a softer feel and further expand their horsemanship, we will set aside time to work on refining lateral aids and balanced equitation. As each rider finds their own inner balance and rhythm, horses will be inclined to become truly light and responsive. A primary goal of horsemanship is to achieve such oneness between horse and rider, and our hope is that riders will take home knowledge to enhance their riding, regardless of discipline.
